A palette inspired by the territory
Colore

The Colore surface is available in twelve shades inspired by the bond of 70Materia with its native territory, the Veneto region of Italy — an act of gratitude towards the land that generously provides the raw materials of which the surfaces are made, and a dialogue with that landscape that offers the brand its source of inspiration: from the Venice lagoon to the River Brenta, from the palaces of Piazza San Marco to the mists on the mainland.

Among the many colors we have developed in our laboratory, we have selected twelve. Their hues have inspired the photographic project of Giacomo Bianco.

Lido

The warm, light hues of sand call to mind Venice’s Lido, a long, thin island formed by the swell, shaped by the relentless action of the sea. The ancient dunes, today a thin strip of land, form a beach much beloved by the Venetians.

Barena

A colour inspired by Venice’s barene: small, flat sandbars covered with vegetation that are regularly submerged by sea water. Fundamental for the lagoon’s ecosystem, they are formed by sediments containing silt and clay, hence their typical brown shade.

Arsenale

A shade that calls to mind the red bricks of Venice’s Arsenale, the ancient shipyard where the city’s ships were assembled, and now a reference point for contemporary culture and art.

Salicornia

This intense red owes its name from the Venetian salicornia, or samphire, a plant typical of the lagoons of the upper Adriatic which, in late summer, during its short flowering period, changes its colour from green to red, granting the landscape a very unusual chromatic allure.

Briccola

A shade of red reminiscent of the colour of the briccole, the characteristic oak poles that mark out the waterways in the lagoon, which take on this shade due to the salt water and sea molluscs.

Ducale

The colour pink is a tribute to the history of Venice. This hue is inspired by the two columns in Verona marble seen in the upper loggia of the Doge’s Palace in Piazza San Marco, a chromatic feature that marked the Doge’s place of honour on the white façade.

Ombra

A dark grey reminiscent of the alleyways of Venice, where the sun’s rays struggle to penetrate. Ombra, or shade in Italian, is also the Venetian term for a glass of wine, which used to be stored in the shade.

Origine

Origine is the material with which we began and its hue, a natural, cold grey, springs from mixing cement and water with sand from the Brenta River. Sourcing the raw material locally gives rise to a truly unique product.

Nebbia

The inspiration for this indefinable mixture of white, grey and beige comes from the fog, or nebbia in Italian, a frequent phenomenon in the Venetian cities and countryside, which blurs the contours and shapes of things.

Canal

A greyish green inspired by the water of the canals, the waterways that permit navigation through the city of Venice. A fundamental and extremely extensive communication system, which often retraces the route of ancient river beds.

Laguna

The Venice lagoon is a constant source of inspiration in our work. Between islands and sandbars, channels and tides, such a deep blue can only be enjoyed in deep waters, where the waters mix and the seabed sits far below.

Torba

As black as peat (torba in Italian), the substance formed when soil rich in vegetation becomes saturated with water and becomes black in the absence of oxygen. This colour stems from the transformation of plant material, the first stage of coal formation.
