The encounter of material and design

Philosophy

70Materia is a brand born from the encounter of material and design. Its philosophy is rooted in a bond with the local territory, in a living dialogue between the unique nature of a place and the ingenuity of the person who interprets it. The brand also draws inspiration from the culture and landscapes of Veneto, the region where the company has its headquarters. In addition to being the creator of surfaces and products rooted in the key concepts of versatility and sustainability, 70Materia is also a laboratory of ideas, open to suggestions and experimentation with designers.

Material

A material rooted in timeless aesthetics and extraordinary craftsmanship, with which to create surfaces and furnishings.

Design

A project combining aesthetics and functionality, responding to specific interior design needs.

Creativity

An original vision that transforms the existing into something new, in continuous evolution.

Sustainability

For 70Materia, sustainability is much more than a label—it is a philosophy, a way of working, an end to be achieved. Our surfaces and products are all sustainable insofar as nothing is left to chance: from the procurement of naturally abundant local raw materials to experiments with inert material recovered with a view to promoting a circular economy that aims to turn waste into resources; from clean, environmentally-friendly processing, to continuously renewable surfaces and low-impact disposal of materials.

Certifications

70Materia respects the Minimum Environmental Criteria (known as CAM) defined by Decree of the Italian Minister of the Environment, Land and Sea. These criteria promote more sustainable production and consumption models.

Raw material

70Materia preferably procures its raw materials locally. In the Origine surface, the mix comprises cement, water and Venetian sand taken from rivers and quarries situated close to the company’s headquarters.

History

The origins of 70Materia are twofold, rooted on the one hand in extensive experience in building applications, and on the other in an in-depth knowledge of interior design and architecture. The result is 70Materia, springing from the encounter between creativity and design. This is a constantly evolving project, one that has rapidly developed from local to international, from floor to product, from product to project. Founded in 2019, just two years later 70Materia presented its Fondamenta collection of washbasins and, in 2024, at Milano Design Week, it launched its Satellite system.

Designers

Right from the outset, 70Materia has sought out collaborators from the world of design. The in-house design team, which developed and patented the surfaces, has been joined by talented designers and architects, with whom the brand has embarked on numerous experiments.

Born in Padua in 1988, Enricomaria Todaro is an architecture graduate from IUAV, in Venice. His studio stands out for its multidisciplinary approach, comprehensive of architecture and product design, with a particular preference for the use of authentic, natural materials, as well as primary, functional shapes. A virtually artisanal form of research underlies all his work. Such meticulous care enables him to explore the essence of the materials used and to achieve a formal, pure simplicity that strikes an ideal balance between aesthetics and function.

CARA \ DAVIDE is a multidisciplinary studio based in Milan, founded by Cara Judd and Davide Gramatica. Their practice, at the intersection of interiors, furniture, and collectible design, is distinguished by a process-driven and research-oriented approach to materials, context, and perception.

Finemateria  is a design studio founded by Gianluca Sigismondi and Stefano Bassan. The studio's practice is rooted in research and the synthesis of stimuli and visions, exploring formal, material, and narrative design with the aim of catalysing reactions, emotions, and ultimately, memories.

Founded by Gianmaria Della Ratta and Giorgio Gasco, GROOVIDO is a furniture design studio that blends visual research and experimentation to transform creative challenges into unique objects, which create a dialogue between tradition and new cultural influences, materials, colours, and production techniques.
