LINK

LINK is a modular seating system designed by three design students and produced by 70Materia using a mixture comprising waste plastic.

70Materia has partnered the Iuav University of Venice in the development of LINK, a concept of street furniture conceived by design students Jenny Brunisso, Elettra Campagnaro and Adele Di Stasio. With the support of 70Materia, the team has developed a set of modules that can be mixed and matched freely to create flexible, shared seating for use in public spaces.

LINK stems from 70Materia®, a mixture of sand, cement, water and oxides, combined with recycled plastic to transform waste into a resource with new technical and aesthetic qualities. The university’s research team and 70Materia joined forces on the design of the production mould, experimenting with various material mixtures and perfecting the surface finishing techniques. The project was developed as part of Waste Design 2.0, funded by the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Programme and devoted to experimenting with innovative circular design approaches.

By offering a concrete vision of sustainability — in which materials are regenerated to create new possibilities for interaction and use of public spaces — LINK stands as a virtuous example of collaboration between academic research and manufacturing expertise, bringing together material quality, design, and environmental responsibility.
